The winner |
The story is an age-old classic tale of how to do right by others which poses a very challenging yet provoking question as to whether this is possible by human nature when alireza is faced with a difficult decision as to whether give back his own stolen bike to vahid. It is a narrative of despair and self-sacrifice which is one of the biggest human virtues. It however begs the question that does one good turn deserve another? This story is well written and structured with good cinematography; sound and video are well done although there are a few scenes where the sound could be properly mixed. The subtitles need to be well written; incorrect punctuation and poor grammar however this does not have a major impact on the story. It is evident that the author chose young children to tell the story, whereas it is very fitting to an adult audience. |

Utopian |
The story is well structured and composed however the sports connection other than a man sucked into the tv is not clear. It is however a very good attempt at animation and is well structured with good video and audio although the end feels rushed and inconclusive. Good scoring to heighten the mood of the narration and though there is no narration/dialogue, the director has managed to effectively tell the story. |

The production quality is great - great cinematography, sound and edit style. It strongly carries the themes of hope, determination and resilience. What make this feature stand out above the rest is the passion and ambition as seen through the eyes of the narrator and the outstanding performances by the cast. It also has a good moral for sportsmen/women struggling to find themselves when the lights go off. How do they survive and manage life beyond fame and success? How are they integrated back into society? This story goes beyond sports, but also teaches us human life lessons. |

The cold race |
The story which is centered around mountain skiing is well structured with a good plot however the pace is slow. The narrative does however bring out strong themes of themes of endurance, perseverance, determination, hope and success where two men compete in race however it begs the question if mountain climbing is a sport or a hobby? The production quality is standard but the music scoring and edit needs enhancement. The acting is sub-par and feels more like a documentation, than a film. |
